Family Outing / Paradise Dynasty Food Review

Last two days were awesome days for me! My mother came back from Hong Kong to attend my sister's graduation ceremony. Mum said it is a surprise for my sister so my sis didn't know that my mum was coming until the very moment she met my mum in Paradise Dynasty.

Sister was so excited and jumped up and down. Poor me had to organize this surprise for her. Anyway, everyone was happy so it is ok!

Chose a very cool outfit to wear that day. I bought this pants from StyleNanda a long time ago but didn't have to chance to wear it. I wish stylenanda was opened in IT Label in Singapore.

Denim Jacket from Hong Kong/ T-shirt from Korea/ Pants and Boots from Stylenanda (click here for link)
While waiting for their arrival, my boyfriend and i had dessert at Honeymoon Dessert. I'm not really sure why this is so popular. The taste is better than average but mochi is too blend in flavour. The durian paste taste nice though (as commented by my boyfriend. I don't really eat durian).

PARADISE DYNASTY AT VIVOCITY
Poached Chicken in Spicy Sauce

I simply love this dish! The meat is extremely tender. Sauce is just right. The most exciting part is that it is served cold which really amazes your taste buds.

Rating 9.8/10
La Mian with Sliced Beef

One word Spicy. Noodles is well made. Beef is tender. Good in flavour.

Rating 9/10

Dynasty Dumplings (8 Flavour)

This is a signature dish in the restaurant. To be honest, some of them taste almost the same. However, i admire their creativity.

Rating: 9/10
Just remember to eat it hot!

Can't remember what this is called. I am not sure about how this is really supposed to taste like but chefs in Hong Kong make them crispy on the outside and soft (with the meat) in the inside. This, from Paradise Dynasty, is plain crispy. A little bit salty in flavour too.

Rating: 7.9/10

Meat Dumpling in Chilli Oil

The flavour was well managed. However, i prefer eating this in Imperial Treasure as their skin is much softer than this.

Rating: 9/10

 Lamian with Dried Scallion

As mentioned, the flavor and texture of their noodles are very well controlled. This is just one of another dish to try out if you dine in Paradise Dynasty.

Rating: 9/10

                                                           Shanghai Pan Fried Pork Buns

One word delicious. Great cooking technique.

Rating: 9/10

And i shall end this post with the three of us together!!! We look like sisters don't we? haha. Many strangers and friends told us that my younger sister looks more like an elder sister. For you to judge now.

Thanks for reading!

Tim Ho Wan Singapore Food Review

And.... I am finally back!!! You will see me more often from now :).

Tim Ho Wan is a 1 Michelin Star Dim Sum Restaurant, originally from Hong Kong, and is now opened by Chef Mak Kwai Pui in Singapore. Currently, there are 4 Tim Ho Wan dim sum restaurant in Singapore.

Westgate Jurong East #01-13/14
Bedok Mall #B1-51/52
Plaza Singapura #01-29A/52
Toa Payoh #02-02

As a Cantonese, i've always like to eat Dim Sum. A very typical Cantonese. So, my boyfriend and I decided to try out this famous food that everyone has been talking about ever since it is opened in Singapore. I will be giving my honest opinion here.

We didn't order much but we definitely ordered 3 of the Big 4 Heavenly Kings. We don't eat Pig Liver so we opted out that dish from our orders.

Prawn Dumpling(4pcs) $5.50

The first bite was awesome. I really like the prawns in it as they are very 'Q' and fresh. However, the taste reminds me of the prawn dumpling i had in Imperial Treasure at ION Orchard. Both were equally delicious but i must say that Tim Ho Wan had make this prawn slightly more chewy and Q.

Rating: 9/10

Pan Fried Carrot Cake(3 pcs) $4.50

One word to describe this dish - DELICIOUS. It actually made me went home to try to cook this dish out. lol. My grandma has taught me the recipe to make carrot cake. I am still trying to improve this recipe and make the best carrot cake at home. haha.

Nicely pan-fried. Very soft in texture.

Rating: 9/10

Vermicelli Roll with Shrimp $5.50

4 words to describe this (in chinese) 入口即化. The prawns were similar to the Prawn Dumpling. Very Q and can i just say crunchy. (?)

I also like how the cheong fun is made. The skin is soft. However, i would like it to be softer. In that case, i would really rate this 10/10.

Rating 9/10 .

Baked Bun with BBQ Pork (3pcs) $4.50

This is one of the Big 4 Heavenly Kings in their menu.

I am not really sure if the skin is supposed to be soft. It was slightly softer than what i thought. I picture the outer layer to be really crunchy and when i bite it, the BBQ Pork is gonna melt in my mouth. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

Would definitely prefer the skin to be more crunchy and to be served hot.

Rating: 8/10

Spring Roll with Egg White (3pcs) $4.20

Not a fan of deep fried food but this dish was well made. I really enjoyed eating this and the egg white fragrance was remarkable.

Rating: 9.5/10

Wasabi Salad Prawn Dumpling (3pcs) $5.00

A little disappointed with this dish. I was expecting more from it. The wasabi was not strong in flavour. The filling has overwhelmed the taste of the wasabi. I thought the wasabi is supposed to be the main character here??

Rating: 7/10

Pork Rib with Black Bean Sauce $4.20

This is a very common dim sum dish in Hong Kong. I am sure i have tasted better pork rib than this. Nevertheless, pork rib was well marinated and again, melts in your mouth.

Rating: 9/10

Steamed Egg Cake (1pc) $3.80

I am not sure if it is just me but i don't really enjoy this eating. It is slightly sweeter than i thought, also has this strong 'coffee' smell.

Rating: 8/10

Above are just my honest and humble opinion. I think Tim Ho Wan is slightly overrated. It is quite difficult to maintain a superb standard when a brand is expanding. Different chefs have a different way of handling food, even if there is a book to follow. Nevertheless, Tim Ho Wan is definitely a place everyone should try at least once.
